SEGUIN, Texas -- The 2011 USA South Champion CNU cross country teams travel to the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship Meet this weekend hosted by Texas Lutheran University. Both the men's and women's teams will race for a chance to compete at the NCAA National Meet with a top two finish.

This weekend, the Captains women will feature a young squad after replacing three of last season's top five racers with rookies. Senior Jade Zaharoff, who finished second at the USA South Championship Meet, will lead the way, while sophomore Erin Rolaf has heated up, finishing fourth individually last time out for the Captains

On the men's side, CNU will return only two runners from last year's eighth place finishing squad. Still, junior Ray Gamache paces the squad this year after earning USA South Runner of the Year honors, and the team will also feature USA South Rookie of the Year Bradley Turner.

The teams are guided by Coach of the Year Matthew Barreau in his first season with CNU. The women's 6K race will start at 9am followed immediately by the men's 8K at 10am.
